Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad (Indian Students Parliament) was initiated in 2011 under the aegis of MIT-School of Government- Pune, India, with an intent to ignite the spirit of participation in politics and governance amongst the youth of today and inculcate in them public spirited and socially sensitive values during their formative years. Established under BCS Foundation (NGO), the BCS Conclave was an on campus social initiative and largest classroom of Politically & Socially Active Youth from across India. BCS has now become a movement led by the Youth of India, for the Youth and of the Youth over a period of last 9 years. In this span of close to a decade, MIT-SOG through the BCS platform has successfully raised the extent of sensitivity, awareness, involvement, responsiveness, access and say of Indian youth in political and democratic processes to enable a healthy democratic system and identify competent public leaders and policy makers from the grassroots and from all walks of life.
80,000+ Strong BCS Community comprising Indian Youth from all 27 States of India have been inspired by this movement to play an active role in Politics, Governance, Judiciary, Media and other areas of Social Empowerment. 300+ Working Co-ordinators and 60+ Active Student Council Members have conducted regional BCS chapters supported by Regional Government Body in many cases across states of India- Kerala Legislative Assembly, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh in Bhopal with Vidhan Sabha, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh-Varanasi, Telangana-Hyderabad, Bihar and Maharashtra-Vidharbha –Akola. The 9 BCS Editions held at MIT-SOG,Pune alone have witnessed ‘Passing of 70+ Resolutions’, many of which have been introduced as policy reforms by the serving governments at the centre.
The 10th Edition of Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad marks the completion of a decade of consistent efforts undertaken to make the mission of “Inspiring Youth & Strengthening Democracy” successful. The BCS Conclave for the first nine years has been organised at MIT –School of Government, Pune Campus, witnessing participation by more than 10,000 Students Year-on-Year. The 400+ Alumni of MIT-School of Government recommended the 10th Edition of Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad as the milestone year and in line with the prestige, scale and magnitude of this mission, be conducted at a venue of international repute - ‘The Prestigious Vigyan Bhawan, Rajpath-New Delhi-India’.
Expected to be attended by Eminent Ministers, Diplomats and Professionals with remarkable Careers in Politics, Media, Judiciary and Governance-BCS 2020 is the most coveted Indian Students Parliament of the century with the Prestigious Venue of Vigyan Bhawan promising the perfect ambience for deep discussions and actionable resolutions.
