ABOUT BHARATIYA CHHATRA SANSAD
India is the largest democracy in the world and is considered to be amongst the most stable countries in the world. However, if India has to evolve as a highly developed nation, we need politics which focuses on development. To bring in this change, we need to attract youth, who are committed towards politics and are willing to embrace public life with a view to strengthen the democratic fabric of our nation.
To further this cause, with the objective of nation building, the Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad (Indian Student Parliament) was initiated by Rahul V. Karad in 2011, wherein students of the entire country can be sensitized about entering into public life or embracing active politics.
The innovative platform: Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad or BCS, as it known, is a non-political platform to sensitize and harness the power of youth, mainly through the general secretaries, joint secretaries and socially active & politically sensitive students from around 25000 colleges of more than 400 universities in India.
The BCS is a classroom that provides political coaching to nearly 10,000 students in the age group of 18-25. It provides lessons on the functioning of a democracy and encourages the students to serve the society by entering public life and attaining leadership roles.
It is aimed at enhancing the roles and relevance of youth in democratic institutions such as: political parties, social organizations, colleges, universities and public institutions. We are trying to create an environment so that committed, educated and spirited youth participate in democratic polity and contribute in evolving a healthy, democratic system.
To ignite the very spirit of student politics in the youth of today and inculcate public spirited and socially sensitive values right during their formative years. We aim to raise the extent of sensitivity, awareness, involvement, responsiveness, access and say of youth in political and democratic processes so that a healthy democratic system is evolved to produce competent public leaders and policy makers, from the grassroots and from all walks of life.
To create most ethical, spirited and competent public leadership in the country, which will shape our policies, make our democracy vibrant and bridge the chasm between the way we are being governed today and the way we actually want to be governed.
